About

sean murphy catering and events los ange

Sean Murphy has been involved in the Los Angeles restaurant and catering scene for over two decades. As the son of iconic restaurateur Jimmy Murphy, owner and operator of the legendary restaurant, Jimmy’s Beverly Hills, he has closely followed in his Father’s footsteps when it comes to taking care of his customers.

Sean continues the legacy of his family’s reputation while providing his loyal clientele with the revered personal touch and service his Father has been so well known for in the Los Angeles social scene– an art that many people feel has waned over the years.  Sean brings his strong business sensibilities and visionary attributes to all of his catering parties and events, with a combination of his hands on approach, attention to detail, and passion for exceptional food and service.

Sean began his restaurant career by training in Europe to gain a foundation in classical French cuisine and service.  He served his “apprentice stage” at Kastel St. Paul Restaurant in Belgium and learned firsthand what was involved in running and operating a successful kitchen. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Sean began a steady ascent at the side of his father, eventually being named Maitre d and then General Manager of the famed Jimmy’s Restaurant.  It was during these years that Sean distinguished himself as a motivated, talented restaurant professional by running all aspects of a high-end/high-volume establishment that served a diversified clientele. Sean has vast experience in running high profile events such as the Sony Grammy Awards, the Governor’s Ball at the Academy Awards, the Fire and Ice Ball, Jimmy’s legendary St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations, and visits from various Presidential and Political figureheads.  After Jimmy’s unprecedented 20-year run in Los Angeles, Sean went on to work with notable restaurateurs and chefs such as, Wolfgang Puck, Eddy Kierkofs, Lee Hefter, Neal Fraser, Jason Travi, and Ben Ford.

In 2000, Sean started his own catering company. He handles parties ranging from intimate dinner gatherings to gala events with guests numbering into the thousands.  His vast knowledge, business acumen and attention to detail mark his ability.  His passion for food, service and people reflect his philosophy. Through the years, Sean has followed his personal and professional ideal by providing his clients with an extraordinary experience, featuring outstanding cuisine and ambience while ensuring that each guest is greeted, recognized, and acknowledged every time.
